Project Overview

The project involved constructing a 1.25 MGD wastewater treatment facility to support Buffalo Trace Distillery’s expansion, featuring a biothane aerobic reactor system, a new process and administration building, and full integration of mechanical and treatment systems. Built within an active distillery with limited site space, the team overcame logistical challenges through off-site staging and just-in-time material deliveries while maintaining uninterrupted 24/7 operations by carefully coordinating tie-ins without disrupting production. Despite beginning construction at only 30% design completion and accommodating $3 million in added scope, the project was delivered on schedule through close collaboration among multiple design and construction partners. Baker self-performed major scopes, including demolition, piping, equipment installation, and system startup, ensuring quality, efficiency, and greater control throughout the project.
